Superintendent Dr. Anthony Mays’ Week Ahead – February 23, 2026

Dr. Mays

Each and every day counts for students, so we have to relish every moment to ensure we are meeting the needs of our families. In this competitive environment where parents have a variety of options available to meet their educational needs, we want Alief ISD families to always recognize our district as the right choice! In the upcoming years, Alief families will have a menu of choices here in Alief ISD that includes fine arts, STEAM, dual credit with Alief Early College High School, advanced placement focus with Kerr High School, dual language, virtual school, and The Young Women’s Leadership School.

We recently wrapped up our conversations with the University of Houston, which will allow Hastings High School students to earn dual credit in public health while also gaining automatic admission to the University of Houston. We are focused on creating innovative opportunities that accelerate learning and provide choices for families. We recognize that choice is important for all families looking for the right educational option!

The Young Women’s Leadership School application is now open! This is a college-preparatory opportunity that will provide additional choices for our families. Please watch this video to learn more about:

The Power of the All-Girls School

As we increase the number of choice school opportunities, our families can find more information here about what is happening in Alief ISD.

I continue to be excited about this year! I am excited to “Be all in with Alief ISD!”

Black History Month

All month long, we celebrate Black excellence—past, present, and future. During Black History Month, Alief ISD honors the rich history, lasting legacy, and countless contributions of Black leaders, educators, innovators, and changemakers who continue to shape our communities and our world.
