Superintendent Dr. Anthony Mays’ Week Ahead – December 8, 2025

Dr. Mays

The holiday season offers an opportunity to show more kindness and consideration for others than we often do for ourselves. After all, the season is about giving, and the satisfaction that comes from helping others can often be greater than the joy of receiving! Especially when you are helping fulfill a genuine need of someone else. Our partnership with the Salvation Army allows us to support our students and families who may not be able to afford Christmas gifts for loved ones. Thank you to everyone who has already stopped by. We have currently adopted 131 Alief Angels. If you can give, I hope you will take some time to stop by and adopt an Angel from our Angel Tree in my office reception area. Gifts are due by Thursday.

The Young Women’s Leadership School application is now open! This is a college-preparatory opportunity that will provide additional choices for our families. As we increase the number of choice school opportunities, our families can find more information here about what is happening in Alief ISD.

I am excited about this year! I am excited to “Be all in with Alief ISD!”

In this episode of ImpactED, Kristyn Cathey, Chief of Communications, sits down with Tiffany Tatum, Alief PASS Specialist, to highlight impactful events and initiatives that support Alief ISD students and staff. Together, they discuss the importance of building meaningful connections, fostering positive school culture, and creating supportive experiences that help students and educators thrive.

It features over 10,000 delegates and includes a variety of competitions and workshops. There are hundreds of workshops offered by industry professionals, college professors, and successful HS theatre programs.

At this year’s Grapevine Texas Thespian Convention, the level of competition was extraordinary. Amid this highly competitive environment, Alief students shined. We are thrilled to share and celebrate the incredible accomplishments of our theatre programs and the dedicated educators who guide them.
