Superintendent Dr. Anthony Mays’ Week Ahead – April 7, 2026

Dr. Mays

In Alief ISD, we recognize the power of a strong foundation in education. This week, our students will begin STAAR testing. Parents, we need your help as we all prepare to support our students in collecting data to strengthen the foundation they stand on. This assessment will provide much-needed data to drive and inspire our work with Alief ISD students. Our goal is for 100% of our students to become college, career, and/or military-ready! Please help by making sure all of our students:

Go to bed early and get a good night’s rest.

Eat breakfast to feed the brain and body.

Encourage and celebrate our students as they come and go during testing!

We are excited about the work our educators are doing to meet our students’ needs and look forward to learning more about where our students are and how we can support them in excelling in their future endeavors, no matter what that may be!

The Young Women’s Leadership School application is still open! This is a college-preparatory opportunity that will provide additional choices for our families. Please watch this video to learn more about:

The Power of the All-Girls School

As we increase the number of choice school opportunities, our families can find more information here about what is happening in Alief ISD.

I continue to be excited about this year! I am excited to “Be all in with Alief ISD!”

In celebration of National Assistant Principals Week, we proudly recognize the outstanding Assistant Principals across Alief ISD for their dedication, leadership, and commitment to student success. Each day, they play a vital role in creating safe, supportive, and high-achieving learning environments for both students and staff. Their tireless efforts behind the scenes—guiding instruction, supporting teachers, and building strong connections with families—do not go unnoticed. We are grateful for their passion, resilience, and the positive impact they make in our schools and community. Thank you for all that you do to help Alief ISD thrive!

April is Autism Acceptance Month, a time to celebrate differences, promote understanding, and support every learner’s unique journey. At Alief ISD, we are committed to creating inclusive environments where all students feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.

If you have concerns about your child’s learning, our Special Education team is here to help guide you every step of the way. Call (281) 988-3750 or email [email protected].

In this episode of ImpactEd, host Kristyn Cathey, Chief of Communications, sits down with Jennifer Baker, Alief ISD CTE Director, Raymond Johnson, CTE Instructor, and Jim Rosen, Director of Training Delivery at GE Vernova OFS. Together, they explore the powerful partnership between GE Vernova’s Onshore Wind (OFS) team and Alief ISD’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. The conversation highlights how industry and education are working hand-in-hand to prepare students for real-world careers in advanced manufacturing, energy, and technical fields. Learn how this collaboration provides students with hands-on learning experiences, exposure to industry professionals, and a clearer pathway from the classroom to high-demand careers.
