Superintendent Dr. Anthony Mays’ Week Ahead – November 17, 2025

Dr. Mays

I am happy to share that our partnership with our local Salvation Army is still going strong, and they remain committed to supporting Alief ISD students through our Adopt an Alief Angel initiative. Kerr High School has already stopped by my office to adopt 40 angels! Thank you to our Kerr High School students for their civic engagement! Every year, we can meet the needs of Alief families through this team effort! Be sure to stop by my office to adopt an Alief Angel!

Next week, students, faculty, and staff will be on Thanksgiving break. I hope that you all take some time to make new memories with loved ones. While I am a strong advocate of eating as much as you can handle, I also want to encourage everyone to make time to exercise. For our Alief ISD students, please be sure to stop by your library to check out a book(s) for the Thanksgiving Break, make some time to read, and enjoy a book!

The Young Women’s Leadership School application is now open! This is a college-preparatory opportunity that will provide additional choices for our families. As we increase the number of choice school opportunities, our families can find more information here about what is happening in Alief ISD.

I am excited about this year! I am excited to “Be all in with Alief ISD!”

Q&A with Dr. Mays

Join Alief ISD Superintendent Dr. Anthony Mays and student Julissa Piñon for an inspiring conversation about the district’s Performing and Visual Arts Academy. From the stage to the studio, discover how Alief ISD is cultivating the next generation of performers and visual artists. Tune in to hear why the arts play a vital role in student growth, academic success, and community connection.

Landis and Youens Elementary Spread Holiday Cheer at Local H-E-B

Landis Elementary and Youens Elementary students brought the spirit of the season to our community this Saturday as they filled the local H-E-B with joyful Christmas carols. We are so proud of our young performers for sharing their voices, their time, and their holiday cheer with the Alief community!

Alief ISD and APANEXT Collaboration Opens Doors for Students

Latosha Baker and Dr. Baldwin did an outstanding job collaborating and representing Alief ISD at the recent APANEXT event. Their leadership and engagement helped create meaningful opportunities for our scholars—several students received on-the-spot scholarships, and the event concluded with an exciting giveaway of $500 in gift cards and two iPads. We are grateful for this powerful partnership and proud of the support it continues to bring to our students and their futures.
