Dr. Mays

In the midst of constant change it can be easy to lose focus on the main thing. As we work to help our students make progress, the noise around policy changes, school finance, and vouchers can be a distraction. Our goal every day is to prepare students for the future, to be our leaders and innovators of tomorrow. Our focus every day is to help all students to read and write at a high level through the rigorous instruction that we provide in every Alief ISD classroom.

For our students, critical thinking is vital for them to be “Future Ready”. Artificial Intelligence and other technologies are causing swift change in our world. Preparing students today to be analytical readers, that can understand complex concepts quickly, utilize technology, and collaborate with others to develop solutions will be the way forward. Helping all students to practice and hone their skills in Alief ISD classrooms is why we exist. I encourage everyone to stay focused on the main thing!

January was School Board Recognition Month, but in Alief ISD, our appreciation for our incredible board members never ends. Thank you for your dedication to our students, staff, and community, today and every day!

We were honored to join our Alief community in celebrating the Lunar New Year, a time of renewal, reflection, and joy. Our district’s rich diversity is one of our greatest strengths, and it is truly special to embrace traditions that unite us and foster a deeper understanding of our shared cultural heritage. As we welcome the Year of the Snake, we recognize the values it represents—wisdom, resilience, and transformation.

Family and Student Climate and Safety Survey

We would appreciate the feedback from ALL of our parents and guardians. Please complete one survey per campus at which you have a child enrolled and attending school.

Families may access the anonymous survey using this link through February 7. The survey includes 8 statements and 2 open-ended questions.

Students will be taking the Social-Emotional Learning/Climate and Safety Survey (Jan. 21 – Feb. 7) and the TIA Student Perception Survey (Jan. 27 – Feb. 14), administered by campus staff.

We hope to receive open and honest feedback from our families and students so that we can ensure the continuation of programs and practices that are going well, and reflect on things that may need to be modified, adjusted, or implemented.

Thank you for your participation!
