HOUSTON — The Vietnamese-American Chamber of Commerce (VACC), a 501(c)(6) dedicated to promoting business growth for the local Vietnamese community will host an inaugural event on Friday October 14th, 2011 to officially announce its launch. The event will feature introductory speeches by the Board of Directors and will also provide insight on the organization’s plans for 2012, as well as its long-range vision for the local Vietnamese-American community. The announcement will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the International Trade Center at 11110 Bellaire Blvd., 77072. Following the announcement, elected officials, community leaders and guests are invited to enjoy a celebratory Kick-Off Lunch.

The announcement marks a milestone for the VACC whose board members have contributed hundreds of hours over the past several months to build a lasting framework for the organization. “We would like to give back to the community and show the community what we’re all about,” said Stephen Le Jr., the VACC’s president in a recent interview on Vietnamese- American Network Television.

The VACC will work together with other local area non-profits to support a wide range of educational and networking events for the growing Vietnamese-American community. “We are putting together educational programs that emphasize language and technology skills essential to any individual who wants to improve his business,” said Laura Le, the VACC’s program director.

“With over 80,000 Vietnamese-Americans in Houston, the VACC is a much needed organization,” said Toan Vu, the VACC’s membership director. “Whether people are looking to get help, provide help or just learn more about business growth and our local community we are ready to support them and connect them to the resources they need.”

“The VACC is a celebration of Vietnamese culture, our local Vietnamese-American businesses and the dreams and great futures that can be fulfilled for our community through connecting, educating and supporting one another. Our priority is to raise awareness about the issues affecting our economic community and to get them handled,” said Christina Sulien, the VACC’s vice-chair of public relations. “It’s not a simple goal, but we’re committed at heart.”

To mark the end of 2011, the VACC will hold a series of community outreach events beginning with a food drive next month for Thanksgiving.

The VACC is a non-profit organization committed to improving businesses in the Vietnamese-American community and thus enhancing the overall quality of life for Vietnamese-Americans. The VACC promotes strong business work ethics, corporate responsibility, education, language skills and technology. Utilizing a collaborative committee structure, we engage with investor companies, business professionals, local governments, and educational institutions in the Greater Houston Area to bring about prosperity and a high quality of life for the people who live and work in the region.
