The legislative session has begun, and our board has laid out its focus areas. You can view our legislative priorities here. School finance remains an area of focus for us. Despite passing the VATRE, I have shared that we will continue to battle financial challenges until school funding improves. Continued unfunded mandates will continue to strain our budget, causing us to look for ways to be responsive to new state requirements and other needs we have as a district. Several of our parents and trustees will visit the capital with lawmakers in the upcoming months to advocate for Alief ISD and public educators. As we correspond with legislators, we will continue communicating with our community about Alief’s priorities and how best to support our students and Texas educators!
Trustees, thank you for your leadership, dedication, and commitment to our students, staff, and community. January is School Board Appreciation Month! Our trustees received a special recognition from the office of Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones.
Family and Student Climate and Safety Survey
We would appreciate the feedback from ALL of our parents and guardians. Please complete one survey per campus at which you have a child enrolled and attending school.
Families may access the anonymous survey using this link through February 7. The survey includes 8 statements and 2 open-ended questions.
Students will be taking the Social-Emotional Learning/Climate and Safety Survey (Jan. 21 – Feb. 7) and the TIA Student Perception Survey (Jan. 27 – Feb. 14), administered by campus staff.
We hope to receive open and honest feedback from our families and students so that we can ensure the continuation of programs and practices that are going well, and reflect on things that may need to be modified, adjusted, or implemented.
Thank you for your participation!
