Dear Friends,

We made it. We weathered Winter Storm Enzo with minimal disruption, and I am grateful for the preparation and partnership that helped us stay ready rather than panicked.

Many of you asked about our efforts to care for the unhoused in District F during the storm, and I’m proud to share the incredible work of our partners: Agape Christian Fellowship, Heads Up Houston, Alief-YMCA, YMCA International, and the District F Hot Team. These organizations mobilized quickly to open their facilities as warming centers and provided critical resources.

The Hot Team identified eight encampment locations across the district, and with support from Walmart (HWY 6 location), we delivered hot meals, blankets, socks, and snacks to those in need. Moments like this underscore the vulnerability of many of our neighbors during extreme weather events. That’s why I am collaborating with strategic partners to create a hyper-local response to unsheltered residents on the west side. Stay tuned—your help and support will be vital in these efforts.

In the meantime, if you notice an encampment in our community, please call 311, upload a photo, and feel free to share it with our office to ensure we’re aware.

Solid Waste Updates:

Due to weather delays, Solid Waste Management has released an updated service schedule. Stay informed by visiting houstontx.gov/solidwaste or downloading the HTX Collects App for real-time updates.

Midwest Safety Concerns:

Our office recently learned of a new after-hours club near Clarkcrest and Fondren. Residents have reported activity that raises concerns, and we’re actively working with Midwest HPD to address this issue and other targeted concerns in the area. Expect a status update soon.

District F Crime Stats:

Unfortunately, District F has seen a slight increase in violent crime this year, with 51 more incidents (+3%) compared to 2024. Specific increases are in Murder, Sexual Assault, and Aggravated Assault. While some of these incidents are connected to gang-related activity, others are not, underscoring the need for continued vigilance.

If you’ve attended Midwest or Westside PIP meetings, you’re familiar with how crime stats are analyzed and addressed. I urge you to stay engaged, report suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities, and keep our office informed. Your communication helps us direct additional funding and resources for public safety—let’s continue to work together to keep our neighborhoods safe.

I appreciate your ongoing collaboration and commitment to District F. As always, reach out to our office with concerns or ideas. Let’s continue to make District F a community we’re proud to call home.
