Alief ISD Parents, Staff, Students, and Community Members,

I am so excited to be back in Alief! I have enjoyed visiting classrooms and seeing students and staff members engaged in high quality, effective learning activities. The 2022-23 school year is off to a very successful start with approximately 41,000 students entering our schools each day.

Serving as Alief ISD’s Interim Superintendent as the Board of Trustees works through the Superintendent search process is truly an honor for me. I served in this same capacity during the 2011-2012 school year prior to Mr. HD Chambers being named as the Superintendent of Schools. My priority as Interim Superintendent will be to ensure that all Alief students learn in a safe, equitable, and productive learning environment. Along with the Alief ISD Board of Trustees, I will work to provide a seamless transition as the Board of Trustees selects the next leader of the Alief Independent School District.

In 1987 I began my career in Alief as a first-grade teacher at Smith Elementary. I was also fortunate to work at Martin Elementary and serve as the Principal at both Rees Elementary and Hastings Ninth Grade Center before assuming the role of Deputy Superintendent of Instructional Services and Public Relations. During that time, I established many meaningful relationships with parents, community members, staff members and students. These relationships will allow us to immediately engage in the meaningful work necessary to achieve student success.

I am proud to be a part of the Alief community and I am confident that as we collaborate with one another, we will continue to create a bright future for our students. Alief has the most dedicated, hardworking teachers and staff who are committed to our district motto of Preparing Students for Tomorrow – Caring for them Today. I look forward to working with all of you on the path to our next exciting chapter.

Padres, personal, estudiantes y miembros de la comunidad de Alief ISD,

¡Estoy muy emocionada de estar de nuevo en Alief! He disfrutado la oportunidad de visitar los salones de clases y ver a los estudiantes y miembros del personal involucrados en actividades de aprendizaje efectivas y de alta calidad. El año escolar 2022-23 ha tenido un comienzo muy exitoso con aproximadamente 41,000 estudiantes que asisten a nuestras escuelas cada día.

El servir como Superintendente Interina de Alief ISD, mientras la Junta Directiva trabaja en el proceso de búsqueda del Superintendente, es un verdadero honor para mí. Ocupé este mismo cargo durante el año escolar 2011-2012 antes de que el Sr. HD Chambers fuera nombrado Superintendente de las Escuelas. Mi prioridad como Superintendente Interina será asegurar que todos los estudiantes de Alief aprendan en un ambiente de aprendizaje seguro, equitativo y productivo. En colaboración con la Junta Directiva de Alief ISD, trabajaré para ofrecer una transición sin problemas mientras la Junta Directiva selecciona al próximo líder del Distrito Escolar Independiente de Alief.

En 1987, inicié mi carrera en Alief como maestra de primer grado en la Escuela Primaria Smith. También, tuve la fortuna de trabajar en la Escuela Primaria Martin y de servir como directora tanto en la Escuela Primaria Rees como en el Centro de Noveno Grado Hastings antes de asumir el papel de Superintendente Adjunta de Servicios de Instrucción y Relaciones Públicas. Durante ese tiempo, establecí muchas relaciones muy importantes con los padres, los miembros de la comunidad, los miembros del personal y los estudiantes. Estas relaciones nos permitirán involucrarnos inmediatamente en el trabajo importante necesario para lograr el éxito de los estudiantes.

Estoy orgullosa de ser parte de la comunidad de Alief y confío en que al colaborar unos con otros, continuaremos creando un futuro brillante para nuestros estudiantes. Alief tiene los maestros y el personal más dedicados y trabajadores que están comprometidos con el lema de nuestro distrito que consiste en Preparar a los estudiantes para el mañana, cuidándolos hoy. Espero trabajar con todos ustedes en el camino hacia nuestro próximo y emocionante capítulo.
