District “Clean and Green” Campaign keeps MOVING FORWARD

The District kicked-off their “Clean and Green” Campaign in July of 2010 with a District wide recycling event. In early 2011 the work continued with a tree planting in Hackberry Park in January and a Cleanup of Alief Community Park in March. In April the District held their second recycling event and another is planned for October 15.

Karen Loper, Committee Chair of the Environmental and Urban Design Committee, states “the District has been working hard on planning events and we are pleased to be moving forward to make the Alief area and the International District one of the cleanest and greenest areas in Houston”. Loper notes that much of this could not be accomplished without the assistance of Super Neighborhood President and Community Activist, Barbara Quattro.“Barbara is a force to be reckoned with and her energy and enthusiasm to make Alief a cleaner and greener place is seemingly boundless, I don’t know how she does it day after day, we are fortunate to have her on our committee and in the community”.
