Superintendent Dr. Anthony Mays’ Week Ahead – March 24, 2025

Alief was on fire this week! If you missed the Alief ISD Cheerleading Competition, you missed an incredible opportunity to see what the commitment of educators does for our students. Taylor High School was packed from wall to wall with families and students who embraced the competition and willingness to show their greatness. This year, we went from 9 teams competing to 19 teams competing. Thanks to Dr. Joseph, his team, and our cheerleading coaches for their vision and work to make this opportunity happen for our students.

Thank you to Human Resources for supporting Alief ISD in having the strongest professionals in front of our students. Student achievement happens with one campus, classroom, and student at a time. It takes true and passionate professional educators to unlock a student’s buried and, at times, hidden potential. That is the art, magic, and science of teaching! I am grateful for the educators who share their talents and gifts with our community and students.

This weekend, we host our second annual Taste of Alief to celebrate the diversity of this special place, Alief! I hope to see you there to celebrate the culture of our community.

Congratulations to Elsik High School for the opening of the Ram Store, a student-run enterprise. This initiative provides students with hands-on experience in business operations, customer service, and financial literacy while fostering school spirit.

Precinct 4 has officially completed 50 miles of sidewalks in just one year! Commissioner Lesley Briones joined us to celebrate this milestone with a ribbon-cutting right here in Alief ISD—a huge step forward for safer, more walkable communities!

Celebrate the diversity of Alief with a vibrant parade, delicious food, and community fun—all for FREE! Last day to register for the parade is March 21, 2025.

Do you have a child going to Pre-K?  Join us for our Pre-K Registration Event on Saturday, April 5th, from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM!  Complete the new student application (https://aliefisd.net/prek-k) and bring the required items listed on the flyer to receive VIP registration.  Don’t miss this opportunity to secure your child’s spot!

Each month, one student, two teachers, and two support staff will be selected as an MVP Award winner by their peers.

These winners are chosen based on evidence of their support of customer service and positive climate and culture in Alief ISD, and they will be celebrated during our next regular board meeting.

We encourage our stakeholders to submit the March MVP Award Submission by March 25th.
