We continue to grow in our efforts and focus on supporting our educators and our ability to meet the needs of our students. In week two of our return, our specialists spent time with author and speaker Senee Bell, celebrating being excellent on purpose. None of our success will happen by accident but will require intentional practice. We appreciate our specialist and their work to support teachers throughout Alief ISD. Their focus is on getting stronger to support our teachers and students. We recognize that the work can be challenging and appreciate our specialists’ commitment to their professional development and that of our teachers and students. Our Portrait of an Alief ISD Graduate shares competencies that we want all of our students to leave Alief ISD having mastered. Our fourth competency is “Global Citizen”. Teaching our students the importance of service is essential. As we watch the fires rage in California, I cannot help but consider our students’ ability to empathize with those impacted with consideration for the implications and how we might be able to support them from Alief ISD. We must allow our students to work collaboratively to solve the challenges we face as a community in our classrooms today to prepare them for tomorrow. Congratulations to Chaunell Thomas (Boone Elementary), Bryan Pizano (Holub Middle School), and Diamond Hightower (Elsik Ninth Grade Center), Main Event Stafford December Teacher of the Month winners!
