September 2024

School is in full swing for students of all ages, and many of us are settling into our new routines. At Precinct 4, we are preparing for fall by prioritizing the health of our communities and our democracy.

I am excited to announce we will open Teen Health Clinic this fall at Bayland Community Center in partnership with the Baylor College of Medicine. This clinic will offer free high-quality physicals, sick visits, mental healthcare, and more to teens and young adults from 13 to 24 years old.

Bayland is already Precinct 4’s hub for health, with services like Harris County Public Health’s Mobile Dental Clinic, community food distributions, the Diabetes Prevention Program, and Precinct 4 Resource Navigators. We’re committed to ensure everyone has access to high-quality healthcare.

While we focus on your health and the health of our communities year-round, you can help ensure the health of our democracy by making your voice heard this election season. National Voter Registration Day is September 17, and you have until Monday, October 7 to register to vote in the November 5th general election. Check your voter registration and make your voice is heard.

I invite you to attend our Precinct 4 Listening Tour on September 14 at Grand Oaks Elementary in Tomball. We want to hear from residents about how we can better serve you. For our neighbors in Katy, we will also be hosting a workshop for our All in 4 Katy East Community Plan later that day at Radack Community Center.

For some family fun, come to our movie night on September 13 at Nottingham Park, the Hummingbird Festival on September 14 at Kleb Woods Nature Center, and the Hispanic Heritage Month Festival on September 28 at Bayland. My team and I are dedicated to keeping you and your community healthy. Let’s meet, connect, and build a stronger democracy together.

All my best,

Commissioner Briones Spearheads County Efforts to Re-invest in Criminal District Courts

Commissioner Briones is transforming Harris County’s justice system by leading efforts to invest in critical upgrades to its Criminal District Courts. In August, Commissioners Court unanimously approved moving forward with implementing Commissioner Briones’s court resources package. This essential investment, developed by Commissioner Briones, will address delays in various stages of a case’s life cycle, caused by factors such as defendants missing court dates, mental health or competency challenges, and the lack of cohesive management systems and practices within the courts.
