PREPARE FOR WINTER WEATHER

Below are a few energy-saving and safety tips from CenterPoint Energy. You can read more on their website.

  • Make sure your heating system is operating safely and efficiently.
  • Close window coverings and blinds.
  • Use space heaters safely.
  • Test your carbon monoxide and smoke alarms to make sure they work.
  • Report downed power lines to (713) 207-2222 or (800) 332-7143.
  • Report a gas leak to 911 and (713) 659-2111 or (800) 752-8036.

For those who need to escape the elements, the following warming center locations will be open beginning at 8 p.m. on Monday, January 15:

SOLID WASTE HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
We heard from many neighbors about the extended recycling delays due to the Christmas and New Year holidays. Below is the holiday schedule for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Monday, January 15, 2024 (MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY)
CITY HOLIDAY: All Solid Waste facilities and offices are closed.

Tuesday, January 16, 2024
Monday’s garbage, yard waste, recycling, and 3rd Monday & 3rd Tuesday’s tree waste will be serviced. All Solid Waste Facilities including Neighborhood Depositories/Recycling Centers, and administrative offices will re-open.

Wednesday, January 17, 2024
Tuesday’s garbage, yard waste, recycling, and 3rd Wednesday’s tree waste routes will be serviced.

Thursday, January 18, 2024
All garbage, yard waste, curbside recycling, and tree waste will resume regular schedule.
