A WORD FROM COUNCIL MEMBER THOMAS

District F Business Owners,

I am excited to announce that I, along with my colleagues at City Council, have voted unanimously to pass an ordinance creating the City of Houston’s Small Business Economic Relief Program with $15 million in funding. In the midst of everything that has transpired in the last 4 months, I have not forgotten about our small business community, the backbone of our economy. Per Mayor Turner, this program is anticipated to roll out in the next few weeks and will assist at least 300 businesses with up to $50,000 per eligible business. Another piece of good news is that the funds will not be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. I look forward to announcing more details in the coming weeks.

Stay safe and stay tuned,

DISTRICT F OFFICE

We distributed over 7,000 lbs of dog and cat food at our pet pantry distribution on Tuesday!  A big thank you to the Houston Humane Society for partnering with our office, Alief ISD for providing Hastings Ninth Grade Center, and our volunteers for this hugely successful event.  We will be teaming up with the Houston Humane Society again for more distributions coming up.  Stay tuned!

Thank you to Ms. Alethea White and April Pitarra for reporting this dump site to our office.  Funded through our Council District Service Fund, our HOT team cleaned up this blight and will continue to patrol our district.  Please contact 311 to report illegal dumping, and then forward the service request number to our office to help us identify where the hotspots are.
