Harris County Attorney Vince Ryan appointed Celena Cavazos Vinson to serve as an Assistant County Attorney on February 1, 2013. As a member of the Community Protection Division, Vinson targets nuisance businesses throughout the County and works to eliminate these nuisances by filing civil lawsuits that require enterprises to operate lawfully and take steps to reduce criminal activity. The division’s successes include the closure of hundreds of illicit businesses, such as massage parlors, smoke shops, game rooms, and after-hours clubs that harbor prostitution, the distribution of synthetic marijuana, illegal gambling, and the illegal sale and consumption of alcohol.
