While the nations’ focus was on the awesome eclipse that occurred yesterday, a potentially dangerous flooding threat is looming for Texas and possibly Louisiana. The remnants of Tropical Storm Harvey is currently located just off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula Mexico. The National Hurricane Center is giving Harvey a 90% of chance of strengthening into a tropical storm and possibly a hurricane once it enters into the Bay of Campeche and the southern Gulf of Mexico. The majority of computer models are now agreeing that Harvey will move northward towards the Texas Gulf Coast! If this occurs the Texas Gulf Coast and points inland from Brownsville all the way into Louisiana could be facing very heavy flooding rains Friday through Monday.
Now is the time to be preparing for Harvey. I have attached the flood safety checklist and also information about the American Red Cross Mobile Apps. Please download the Hurricane, Tornado and First Aid Apps in particular in advance of this storm and you will receive important weather alerts and information that can save your life!
Please share this information with your coworkers, friends and family. We can never be too prepared!
