Police Explorer_State_CompetitionOn July 30th 2015, Westside’s Explorer Post #3203 traveled to Arlington TX. for the Texas Law Enforcement Explorers Advisors Association (TLEEAA) Competition. The competition was held at the University of Texas- Arlington Campus. The event ran from July 30 thru August 2nd.

The Explorers Program is for young men and women who have an interest in becoming Law Enforcement Officers. These young men and women competed against 90 other teams from across Texas. They compete in police scenarios much like real Officers do on a daily basis.

Westside Explorers won 1st Place in the following categories, Active Shooter and Robbery In-Progress and 3rd Place for Burglary In-Progress.

This program is open to anyone between the ages of 14 through 21. Westside Advisors are Sr. Officer John D. Cobia and Sr. Officer Mike Prause. If you have, or know of a child interested in the Program please contact either Officer, who work dayshift out of the Westwood Storefront.

We also welcome anyone who would like to attend one of our weekly meetings. Our meetings are held at the Westside Command Station, 3203 S. Dairy Ashford every Tuesday from 5:00-8:00 PM (except holidays). If you do not live close to the Westside area, there a 9 other Post throughout the City.

Besides learning about Law Enforcement, these young men and women volunteer their time in the community for many different events, such as the Houston Police Departments Comida Food Drive, The MADD Walk, The 911 Hero’s Run and many other events throughout the year. This is a great program designed for the youth of our community. The primary goals of the program are to help young adults choose a career path in Law Enforcement and to challenge them to become responsible citizens of their communities as well as the Nation.
