April 19, 2013
Good morning,
The 2013 Alief ISD Teachers of the Year were named in an exciting ceremony at Taylor High School last night.
Trustees honored each building Teacher of the Year and the seven finalists were presented to the audience.
Courtney Rees, a teacher at Collins Elementary, was named the Elementary Teacher of the Year. Ms. Rees, who graduated from Hastings High School, has 12 years of teaching experience. She is a second generation Alief ISD teacher. Her mother also taught in our district.
Susan Brunell, from Taylor High School, was named the Secondary Teacher of the Year. She is an Art, Pre-AP Art Drawing, Painting II, III and IV and AP Portfolio teacher with 16 years of teaching experience. Ms. Brunell practiced architecture and design before moving into teaching.
It’s always a special occasion to honor educators who give so much of themselves to teach our children.
Congratulations to our Teachers of the Year!
