Alief ISD, the International Management District and the Alief Super Neighborhood Council celebrated the Alief SPARK Park and Nature Center Dedication Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 10.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony included Alief ISD Superintendent HD Chambers, Board President Ella Jefferson, Board Secretary Sarah Winkler, teachers, staff, students and representatives from the community.
According to the University of Houston, the UH Graduate Design/Build Studio contributed a new outdoor classroom to the garden’s site. The steel, solar-powered shade structure will provide community members with “a place to cool off, as well as a perfect space for educational demonstrations on planting, cooking, vegetables and other topics.”
