This weekend was busy in Alief ISD. I am grateful to LT Conner, Senior Fulbright, Chief Johnson, and our NJROTC Cadets at Taylor High School for the LION PRIDE Drill competition and their work in coordinating our first JROTC competition, which brought together 21 different schools to display their skills across a variety of areas.
Alief ISD Athletic Director Marla Brumfield and our athletic team hosted our first cross-country meet in 35 years at Taylor High School. We had 14 campuses to participate. I appreciate these leaders putting Alief ISD on display and inviting our neighboring districts to witness the greatness that is demonstrated in Alief ISD daily!
Yesterday, we hosted our 21st Annual Golf Tournament, and this year, we raised a record amount of money for scholarships, mini grants, and uniform pantry, eclipsing more than $135,000 in donations, with a record of 230 participants! A massive shout-out to Li Wen Su, Public Relations Specialist, Foundation Board President Raquel Olivier, and our foundation board members! I encourage everyone to get familiar with our foundation and its work. If you haven’t signed up for their pay-it-forward campaign, every dollar counts!
Alief ISD MVP 2025-2026 Awards Nomination Form
Each month, one student, two teachers, and two support staff will be selected as an MVP Award winner by their peers.
These winners are chosen based on evidence of their support of customer service and positive climate and culture in Alief ISD, and they will be celebrated during our next regular board meeting.
We encourage our stakeholders to submit the MVP Award Submission by October 15th, 2025.
Our campuses came alive with joy as students and staff celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month, honoring culture, pride, and community—the heart of what makes Alief ISD so special.
We had such an inspiring morning at Jefferson Early Learning Center, honoring our namesake Mrs. Ella Jefferson and her beloved daughter. It was a joy to join families in learning more about her story and the history that continues to shape our community. A heartfelt thank-you to Principal Hammer for your leadership and for always championing our youngest learners and their families!
The Advisory Board Interest Luncheon brought community members together to learn more about The Young Women’s Leadership School of Alief and discover ways to get involved. Guests were also treated to a special performance by the talented Albright Middle School choir!
Alief ISD celebrated our Military and First Responders at the Elsik vs Hastings game! From a community dinner sponsored by H-E-B, Harris County Sheriff’s Office, and Teahouse to being recognized on the field, we’re proud to honor those who serve.
The first Alief ISD Superintendent’s Family Ambassadors Committee meeting was a success! Grateful for everyone’s contributions and excited to keep making a positive impact for our students and community.
Alief Shines on Stage!
Let’s cheer on Alief’s very own Toni Baker, an Alief Taylor High School alumna, who now takes the stage as a contestant on The Voice! Tune in tonight at 7 p.m. on NBC to watch her blind audition. We are so proud of you, Toni—your Alief family is behind you all the way! #aliefproud #wearealief #allinwithalief
