The International Management District approved a $1,500 sponsorship reimbursement for the Alief Babies Community Pop Up Event during its board meeting on August 22, 2024, reaffirming its dedication to fostering community engagement and unity.  This multi-purpose event, held on August 3, 2024, at Crump Stadium in southwest Alief, was a vibrant celebration that brought together over 300 community members from 11 AM to 4 PM.

The Alief Babies Community Pop Up Event was designed to give back to the community through a range of activities and offerings. Teaming up with sponsors, the event provided giveaways and back-to-school backpacks to support local students. Over 15 vendors participated, including popular Houston clothing brands like Slumped and Fracture, and award-winning food trucks such as Smoke BBQ. The event also featured exotic cars and slabs, creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere that celebrated Houston’s diverse culture.

The event showcased live performances by artists like Deji and Maxo Cream. The presence of political figures, including Council Member Edward Pollard and Council Member at Large Willie Davis, alongside other local leaders, underscored the event’s goal of uniting the community across different spheres.

“Our mission is to bring together socialites, politicians, and all of Houston to unite our community and celebrate together, and to inspire the younger generation to get involved,” said Lundin Aries, the founder of the Alief Babies Community organization and the event’s organizer.

The event not only provided a platform for local brands, artists, and vendors but also created a beautiful experience for everyone involved. The International Management District is honored to support such an impactful initiative, understanding the importance of bridging the gap between government organizations and the youth. This investment reflects the district’s commitment to building a more connected and resilient community and nurturing the future leaders of Alief.
