A $20 million shopping center is coming to the International Management District with a layer of reality TV stardust.

The Bellaire Market District, to be built at 12925 Bellaire Blvd on 2.9 acres of land, has announced itself on Facebook and Instagram with a prominent mention of Houston real estate investor Washington Ho. He starred along with his family in the hit TV reality show “House of Ho.”

Ho’s new real estate brokerage business, White House Global Properties, will handle the leasing of spaces at the shopping center, which is scheduled to open next year.

Ho told the Houston Business Journal that he has been talking with local and national companies about opening restaurants and other types of business at the 50,000-square-foot complex near Synott Road.

The Huynh Investment Group is the project developer. The company, working with Ho’s brokerage, developed the completed Prosperity Plaza across the street at 12934 Bellaire Blvd.

The commercial area is known unofficially as Little Saigon because of its collection of Vietnamese restaurants, markets and other features. But the Bellaire Boulevard corridor also includes restaurants, tea stores, souvenir outlets and temples that reflect the cultures of other nations, too.

With revenue collected annually from commercial property owners, the International Management District funds public safety and security programs within its boundaries, along with graffiti and litter abatement, public art, economic development support, community identity signage and more. Property owners and other community partners serve on the district board, whose meetings are open to the public.
