When property along commercial corridors in the International Management District is “tagged” with graffiti and reported, a work crew funded by the district removes the unsightly vandalism.

Taggers in the area apparently have gotten the message, because the District’s erasure crews were deployed 532 times in 2023, the lowest number since the community service began. The highest annual number was more than three times as many incidents in 2013.

Graffiti removal will remain an important part of the district’s public safety and economic development programs. As one construction company says, “If there is a building with a broken window or spray paint on your walls, additional criminal activity tends to gravitate towards these buildings instead of properties that are clean, well-maintained, and do not have any graffiti on their exterior. Cleaning your property quickly can help alleviate additional issues.”
