Graduation and many other celebrations are upon us, and this season is a time to acknowledge all the hard work that has taken place this year. As we enter the celebration season, I want to remind everyone to be diligent in implementing our campus safety protocols. As we conduct school celebrations and ceremonies, it is important to our families, staff, and students that we remain focused on adhering to campus safety measures while having fun at the same time.

I encourage everyone if you “see something to say something” so that Alief ISD can continue to respond to any situation that could arise. We always want to be proactive versus reactive as we address potential safety concerns. Even while celebrating and having fun, we want to remain disciplined in our standard operating procedures for safety.

Thank you, parents, for your patience as we work to maintain our routine practices while enjoying this season of celebration at our campuses.

Celebrations

For the first time, Alief ISD was awarded the Best Communities for Music Education designation! What an amazing achievement for our Fine Arts leaders in receiving this national recognition from the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation.

Also congratulations to our Hastings High School Bear Necessities school store which recently reached a milestone of $50,000 in sales for the 2022-2023 school year! What a great opportunity for our CTE Retail Management students to learn about the retail industry in a real-life setting.

Alief Early College High School senior Abdulrahman Sadiq received a $2,500 scholarship from KPRC 2 and American Furniture Warehouse. He is one of 20 Houston-area high school students to receive the scholarship! Watch his story here.

And finally, I’d like to share our sixth episode of Q&A with Dr. Mays. In this episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with Culinary Arts student Jaelyn Henderson at The Bistro in the Center for Advanced Careers. View the video here.

Sincerely,

Dr. Anthony Mays
Superintendent
