• Elsik High School students Frederick Mallari and Gabriel Mallari were awarded the Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation Scholarship. The twin brothers, who demonstrate excellent academics and financial need, together were awarded $18,000.
  • More than 30 Alief ISD high school seniors received scholarships from the Alief ISD Education Foundation.
  • Eighteen Alief ISD students received Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Scholarships.
  • Rem Aitbouchireb (Kerr), Samaria Burgess (Taylor), Myles Garriette (Taylor) and Olive Onyekwelu (Taylor) were named recipients of the Ronald McDonald House Charities/African American Future Achievers Scholarship. Only 25 Houston area seniors received this recognition.
  • This year’s Alief Employee Alumni Association (AEAA) scholarship recipients are Shahad Alfartosy (AECHS), Christina Osuagwu (Elsik), Sadiat Agboola (Hastings), Crystal Nguyen (Kerr) and Ku Ku (Taylor). Saul Flories (Kerr) was awarded the AEAA Raising Cane’s Scholarship. Elsik AVID students Maria Bran and Timia James were also named recipients of the Dedré Jefferson Memorial Scholarship. All AEAA scholarships are made possible through donations and fundraising efforts supported by Alief ISD staff and the Alief community.
  • Allyana Gwyneth Maizano (Elsik) and Pedro Hernandez (Taylor) were named this year’s recipients of the Houston Westchase Rotary Scholarship.
  • Fifteen Alief ISD high school seniors received the CITGO Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 each. The scholarship was awarded to seniors pursuing post-secondary studies in STEM.
  • Alief ISD COMET Program volunteers were recently recognized during a luncheon. Alief Early College High School students Jennifer Rebollar and Elsy Moreno and Kerr High School student Ajay Nair each received a scholarship for their commitment to the elementary students in COMET. The COMET Program is a district initiative which extends the school day for participating students in area apartments.
  • The Alief ISD Administration Building Scholarship was awarded to Uzochi Onwukwe (AECHS), Christina Osuagwu (Elsik), Zubaidat Agboola (Hastings), Saul Flores (Kerr) and Megan Cherry (Taylor).
  • Killough Middle School awarded Duaa Fatima (Taylor) and Chioma Duru (Kerr) with the Soaring Eagles Scholarship. This scholarship is made possible through the generosity of Dr. Killough, the Killough staff and parents of a Killough staff member.
