The Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg’s Office has charged Jamarcus Marcel Wilson, and Ricky Harrell, with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, after they were caught committing a burglary in a manner commonly known as “jugging.”

The two men were arrested by officers with the Houston Police Department near the intersection of Westheimer and 610, where significant numbers of “jugging” type offenses have been reported. “Jugging” is a term used to describe a specific type of offense during which suspects target an unsuspecting bank customer and follow that customer in the hope of finding an opportunity to either burglarize the customer’s vehicle at a separate location or rob the customer of items of value.

“I would urge people to be aware of their surroundings,” said Cameron Calligan, Organized Crime Robbery and Burglary Section Chief, “especially when visiting financial institutions and ATM’s, since it is at these locations where people who commit these types of offenses choose their targets.”

Bond has yet to be set for Wilson, who faces an additional charge of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity based on a separate incident that occurred in June of this year.

Ricky Harrell who was on bond for a previous felony offense is being held without bond.

They are charged with second degree felony which carries a sentence of two to 20 years, in addition to misdemeanor burglary of a motor vehicle, which is punishable by up to one year in jail.
